Global Environmental Challenges and Sustainable Business Models
摘要
Over the past few decades, the increased environmental awareness has inspired the business community across the globe for green economy. It has been widely accepted that the traditional business models need to be updated to effectively handle the global environmental challenges. Environmental challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, ever increasing pollution, carbon emissions, inefficient waste disposal etc. pose significant risks not only to public health and the ecosystem on this beautiful planet but also to the sustainability of businesses. Hence, organizations are moving towards sustainable business models (SBM) in order to mitigate the disastrous consequences of global environmental problems and to fulfil the evolving needs of stakeholders’ expectations. They are also shifting their focus beyond the mere profit maximization motives to protect the environment and for the well-being of society. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the important steps that organizations need to take with, implementing energy-efficient processes, reducing waste, transitioning to renewable energy sources, adopting circular economy models, promoting eco-friendly products etc. to make the business truly sustainable. The findings of our study highlight the potential for companies to merge traditional business models with sustainable practices, enhancing their managerial approaches. The integration of sustainable business practices into core business operations will not only foster innovations but also enable companies to respond effectively to environmental challenges, and thereby ultimately drive long-term success and resilience in the marketplace. Furthermore, as the environmental challenges are becoming a serious concern, organizations must take proactive measurers to successfully tackle the environmental problems and make a positive contribution to safeguard the environment.
