The moon is omnipresent in Gothic texts. For ages, it has served as a traditional Gothic trope to deliver a mysterious and dark ambience within the narrative. However, the mere presence of the moon is insufficient to support a Gothic storyline. The symbolic meaning associated with the moon in a Gothic text is relational. In this chapter, I analyse the lyrical narrative and visual representation in Lacrimosa—an ending theme song of the anime Kuroshitsuji—to substantiate the relational nature of lunar symbolism within Gothic narratives.

摘要
