High Fidelity Digital Twin of a Quadcopter for Drone Pilot Training
摘要
The present work introduces a high-fidelity digital twin simulator for quadcopters, designed to enhance pilot training and support UAV research through realistic and immersive simulations. The simulator incorporates physics-based modeling, 3D replication of drones and environments, gamification to boost user engagement, and virtual reality (VR) immersion for an interactive experience alongside. The simulation framework integrates a drone controller, mission planning software within a software-in-the-loop configuration, and environmental physics (such as wind and temperature) to facilitate realistic drone maneuvering in a virtual environment. The results demonstrate the simulator’s precision and utility for training, with metrics such as task completion time and error rates validating its effectiveness and alignment with a mathematical model.
