Implementing mobile technology in education has substantially impacted student engagement and educational outcomes, transforming learning environments in educational settings. This study examines the impact of mobile technology on student learning outcomes and the emerging user experience factors associated with mobile learning. This qualitative research, based on the combination of a purposive sampling approach, was conducted in Malaysia and the United States over 9 months and employed semi-structured interviews and focus groups with students and lecturers. There were 18 students from four focus groups in a university in Malaysia, 12 students from a university in the USA, and 14 lecturers from seven universities in Malaysia involved in this study. The interview and focus group results have been transcribed and analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The data from the study emerged inductively as seven main themes. Additionally, the key themes include Benefits of Meta Mobile Technology, Obstacles of Meta Mobile Technology, Prospects for Meta Mobile Technology, Application of Meta Mobile Technology, Usability Considerations, Learning Experiences with Meta Mobile Technology, and Daily Life Interactions with Meta Mobile Technology. The results offer valuable insights into optimizing educational practices and provide recommendations for future research in mobile learning user experience in different settings of students’ environments in the USA or Malaysia.
