Nowadays, the digital transformation occurs quite rapidly and a lot of innovative solutions are developed for information projects. One of the important characteristics of contemporary projects is a forming technical debt that negatively affects the financial performance. In this context, there is a need for optimal financial management that would provide sustainable economic development. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the need to transform the structure of the financial model for information projects based on the application of risk management in the context of economic uncertainty of the external operating environment. The key features that encourage the implementation of financial changes in the context of institutional transformation are identified. A system for assessing the impact of technical debt on financial performance from the standpoint of planned and actual financial indicators is proposed for use. The result of the study was the development of a rational financial model for managing technical debt when working on information projects.
