The Role of Theory of Generations in the Organization’s Personnel Management System

In modern organizations of the industrial and public sectors of the economy, in addition to one of the main problems of the labor market in Russia in 2024 – staff shortage, it is necessary to highlight the growing trend in the difference of the generations of employees and the complexity of managing them. In the structure of the working-age population, there is a mixture of several generations of employees working in one team – this causes difficulties in the formation of a team, making management decisions and personnel management. Each generation has its own unique characteristics and preferences. Understanding these differences helps to create an effective team and successfully manage staff. The contribution investigates the theory of which is based on the opinion of a cyclical generational change with repetitive values and moods. This work presents results of a study of the theory of generations and a survey of employees of a company which confirm the complexity and multitasking in the employee management of generations X, Y and baby boomers; factors stimulating generational collaboration were identified. Applying generational theory in the HR system can help to create an effective work environment and improve communication between employees, maximizing the potential and experience of each employee.
