Management System Enhancement of Municipal Solid Waste Based on Integral Practices

Improving the municipal solid waste (MSW) system is a critical task in today’s environmental and economic conditions. Traditional methods of waste disposal based on landfilling and incineration have significant negative impacts on the environment, contributing to soil, water, and air pollution. Therefore, implementing integrated waste management practices aimed at reducing landfill volumes and increasing recycling rates has become particularly relevant. The goal of this research is to analyze existing experiences and improve the solid waste management system. Integrated practices involve a comprehensive approach that includes separate collection, reuse, recycling, composting of organic waste, implementation of innovative treatment technologies, and digitalization of control processes. Establishing closed-loop systems not only improves the ecological situation but also promotes rational use of natural resources, reduces pressure on landfills, and decreases harmful emissions. An essential element in improving the solid waste management system is regulatory support, incentivizing businesses to adopt environmentally friendly technologies, and raising public awareness about environmental issues. International experience shows that successful application of integrated practices requires a combination of technological innovations, effective governance, and active community engagement. Thus, modernizing the MSW management system through integrated practices is a promising direction that ensures reduced environmental risks, sustainable development, and efficient utilization of waste as secondary resources.
