Identifying the SIM Card Authentication Algorithm Using Power Consumption Analysis
摘要
With the development of cellular communication, securing SIM cards becomes an increasingly relevant task. Side-channel attacks (SCA) are among the most promising attack vectors for embedded cryptographic devices, including SIM cards. This study focuses on vulnerabilities SIM cards and evaluates their resistance to side-channel attacks. We employed a black-box strategy and, through power consumption analysis, identified the authentication algorithm in the examined SIM cards. The results of the study confirm that the investigated SIM cards lack countermeasures against side-channel attacks and also demonstrate potential vulnerability of the SIM card authentication algorithm to power analysis differential attacks.
