The global effort to transform society into a more sustainable world will require trillion-dollar investments over the years, a challenge that is directly related to the role of green finance. Green finance, also known as sustainable finance, refers to investment and lending practices that seek to support projects and activities that have positive environmental and social benefits. This type of financing is aligned with the goal of promoting sustainability and mitigating negative impacts on the environment. More efficient and transparent governance needs to be built, in line with ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles. In this context, the objective of this chapter is to explore and outline the term sustainable finance, also known as green finance, in the light of a bibliometric review. To do this, a bibliometric review was carried out using two databases: Web of Science and Scopus, with the purpose of addressing the following questions: What is green finance? What are the benefits for companies? The results show that the benefits of financing are linked to the adoption of sustainable practices with optimized use of resources like energy and water, reducing expenses over time. These results highlight the theoretical and practical implications for the field of sustainable finance, underlining its relevance in promoting a stronger and more sustainable global economy that prioritizes environmental responsibility, as well as its strategic role in the formulation of innovative business policies and practices.

摘要
