The perception of a weak economy is what put Donald Trump back in the White House despite all the attention given to cultural issues and candidate behavior in the 2024 campaign. This chapter analyzes polling results and economic data to answer two underlying questions: Why did Americans have such a negative view of the U.S. economy and why did they trust Donald Trump to manage it?
