This chapter discusses the relationship between insomnia and depression, focusing on the importance of treating sleep problems in patients with depression. Next, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Behavior Activation (BA), empirically supported therapies for insomnia and depression, respectively, are presented, showing how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) could contribute to these treatments. Also, the evidence of ACT for these disorders is presented. In addition to the evidence of ACT, its philosophical and theoretical foundations are addressed, namely, Functional Contextualism and Relational Framing Theory, introducing the psychopathology model of psychological inflexibility and its therapeutic alternative, psychological flexibility. Finally, ACT case formulation is addressed, presenting available strategies, suggested instruments, and a proposed session-by-session guide for ACT-based treatment for insomnia in people with insomnia and depression, illustrated by a clinical case example.

摘要
