The Impact of Effective People Management Strategies on Workforce Productivity: A Mixed-Method Study in Oman

This study aims to investigate the impact of people management strategies on productivity levels from the employees’ perspective. The study was conducted in three government organizations using a mixed-methods approach. One hundred twenty online questionnaires were distributed to the participants in the selected organizations. Five individual interviews were conducted to collect qualitative data that supports the findings, while descriptive statistics and correlation analyses were used to examine the quantitative aspects of the study. The results indicate that investing in training and development programs and compensation and reward systems can enhance employee productivity. The training was found to impact both performance and productivity levels positively. The study emphasizes the importance of aligning HR strategies with values. The results indicate that continuous performance feedback encourages employees to enhance their productivity and is related to compensation methods that aim to enhance productivity. The participants emphasized the demand for training and development to enhance their competence and valid performance appraisal systems to prevent discrepancies that lead to dissatisfaction and individual favoritism. The study was characterized by emphasizing the role of HR practices on cultural fit in terms of governance and communication to operate HR practices.
