Evaluating the Impact of Circular Economy Principles on Sustainable Technology Adoption in SMEs
摘要
This article studies the effect of circular economy (CE) approaches on the acceptance and use of sustainable technologies in small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sectors. With increasing environmental concerns, the circular economy is seen as an alternative to the classic linear economy of taking resources, making products, and throwing them away by using less and maintaining products more. This research investigates the drivers, barriers, and results of the implementation of these principles in small and medium enterprises. It mentions, for example, that pressure from stakeholders, organizational climate and measurement of performance affects the adoption of the CE. Moreover, the research explores the sustainable technologies for improved circularity that SMEs employ like energy-from-waste systems, design-for-disassembly products and green packaging. The outcomes will benefit SMEs and decision-makers in addressing the challenges and barriers of CE which would facilitate efforts towards meeting economic, environmental and societal practices of business operations sustainably.
