This research conceptual framework paper explores how critical thinking can be applied in Oman’s oil and gas industry to increase organizational resilience, safety, and business decisions. The report focuses on bridging this critical thinking gap in the industry, recognizing it as a catalyst for innovation and productivity in high-stakes environments. It employs a descriptive-deductive framework for analyzing stakeholder interviews and literature on cognitive skill development, including Bloom’s Taxonomy, Constructivist Theory, and Cognitive Load Theory. These theories underpin a conceptual framework theory that integrates critical thinking instruction into the oil and gas industry. The proposed model underscores the need for structured, responsive critical thinking programs. Incorporating experiential learning, cognitive load management, and progression through the hierarchy of skills, the model aims to create an active, thoughtful workforce that is capable of making decisions under stress and pressure. This study tackles critical thinking in a unique industry-led way, providing a systematic approach that is both theoretical and empirical. This research highlights the value of critical thinking for satisfying industry needs, organizational flexibility, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
