Rapid urbanization, coupled with growing environmental challenges, has placed an onus on cities to adopt sustainable approaches, both in terms of urban mobility and infrastructure. The present study seeks to investigate the interlinkages defining smart urban mobility, integration of renewable energy, and community involvement in the perspective of ITS for viable sustainable urban futures. It is a sequential mixed-methods approach wherein data analysis is done for developed, developing, and least-developed nations based on indicators such as GDP, literacy rate, renewable energy adoption, and electric vehicle usage. The result shows that the countries’ literacy rates are strongly related to their sustainability outcomes; Norway and Germany lead in renewable energy generation and the sustainability index score. It can be observed from the results that for high-income nations, infrastructure is very advanced, coupled with clean energy, while in low-income countries, education and sustainability practices lag. Quite noticeably, high rates of literacy contribute a great deal toward higher scores in sustainability, whereas the contribution of Gross domestic product (GDP) remains very limited. Hence, such a study would conclude that sustainable urban mobility worldwide requires active technological innovation, policy support, and inclusive community participation. However, challenges remain in the scaling of such innovations at the global level-particularly in lower-income regions. The paper concludes that an integrated framework with policy support, technological integration, and active community participation is critical in fostering resilient, low-carbon urban ecosystems.
