Registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN) play a tremendous role in helping patients of all ages who struggle with eating disorders and disordered eating patterns. It is customary for hospitals to implement a systematic nutrition risk screening tool to detect patients at risk for malnutrition [1]. All ARFID patients have eating challenges and will be deemed at nutritional risk, thus alerting the clinical dietitian to perform a detailed nutrition assessment and treatment plan. With adequate nutrition care that addresses the patient’s immediate nutrition needs, the quality of life and overall health of the patient will improve, and consequently reduce medical costs and decrease length-of-stay [2].
