For patients with ARFID, the medical clinician (simplified to “clinician” for the remainder of this chapter) is often the first point of contact for concerned families and/or patients. The clinician’s role may include identifying the underlying diagnosis, assessing medical stability, managing the medical sequelae that may be present secondary to malnutrition, and helping to identify the appropriate team members to best achieve stability and recovery.
