When Verbal Communication Isn’t Helpful Enough: Metaphoric Tools in Online Systemic Family Therapy
摘要
This chapter presents some of the changes introduced by the development of online systemic therapies since the COVID-19 pandemic. Some systemic tools used for many years can be used or adapted in the online setting in systemic individual and family therapy, while others only apply in face-to-face settings. After general considerations regarding the online setting, the use of metaphors in face-to-face systemic treatment and the possibilities of adaptation to the online setting, this chapter describes the use of non-verbal tools in clinical online work developed by systemic therapists. Finally, I will focus on my personal systemic online work with individuals and families using the cards of DIXIT, a game developed by J.-L. Roubira and M. Cardouat (Dixit, https://www.libellud.com/en/our-games/dixit/, Libellud, 2008) and illustrate my statements with clinical examples.
