This paper examines how artificial intelligence is likely to alter the practice of statecraft in foreign policy. The paper answers the question “Is Artificial Intelligence altering the practice of statecraft in foreign policy?” If yes, will it be replacement or augmentation? It further explores the impact on hard, soft, or smart power. The paper employs mixed-method research anchored on complex interdependence, constructivism, and soft power theories. This paper considers the deployment of AI to context specific functionalities and where possible be adapted to the practice of statecraft. The outcome of this investigation contributes knowledge to the ongoing debate on Artificial Intelligence and practice of statecraft in foreign policy in terms of replacement or augmentation.
