Governance as a Means to Protect Family Businesses from Collapse According to the Laws of the United Arab Emirates
摘要
This paper reviews family companies in the UAE, how to turn them into joint-stock companies, and how applying governance principles to them can increase their effectiveness on the levels of the interior and exterior markets in the national economy. The main issue of this study is the absence of a legislative regulation regulating family companies in the UAE and the lack of a precise mechanism to apply electronic governance to them. The study has reached some recommendations, most important of which are: The Emirati Legislator should regulate family companies in the UAE, as stipulated by amending Emirate Company Law, no.2 of 2015, as family companies are private and subjective. The Emirati Legislator should regulate joint-stock family company governance in the UAE by enacting separate laws governing governance principles and appliance mechanisms.
