This chapter explores the role of environmental movements in Green Politics that aims to go beyond the already existing understandings to create a post-Westphalian understanding enabling to see the potential role of non-state actors and social movements. This chapter first answers: “How do environmental movements bring a new perspective to Green Politics?” The second key question is: “How do emotions engage with Green Politics?” By answering these questions, this chapter aims to move from state-centric understandings to non-state actors and environmental movements. First, the argument departs from theoretical debates within IR. Second, the existing position of Green Politics and Green Theory is explored regarding their weaknesses and strengths. Then, the engagements between environmental movements and Green Politics are unravelled regarding emotional connections and connotations.
