Rejuvenating School Leadership Preparation and Development: Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic
摘要
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the educational systems around the world and further exposed and magnified the gaps within the systems. The recovery is ongoing. Emerging evidence indicates that educational systems as well as school leaders were ill-prepared for the magnitude of disruption of the COVID-19 crisis. In recognizing the pivotal role of school leaders then (during the pandemic) and now (recovery process), the purpose of this chapter is to reimagine new ways of preparing and developing school leaders that are equipped to meet the complex demands and ever-expanding scope of their jobs. Consequently, this chapter proposes a future-oriented longitudinal partnership model for preparing and developing school leaders and researching its impact on school leaders’ practices, teacher effectiveness, and student learning outcomes.
