This chapter incorporates the origin and evolution of palaeochannel in the context of theoretical perspectives followed by the perspectives of the Bengal Delta and Damodar Fan Delta using satellite data and field explorations. In this chapter, the evolution of the Damodar Fan Delta located in the western part of the Bengal Delta is investigated. This chapter explores the unique characteristics of the Damodar Fan Delta that attract readers to study palaeochannels and water resource management. The typical drainage system, climate, soil, and litho-stratigraphy along with the social and economic dimensions of the regions are also focused.
