The Era of the Post-postmodern Celebrity
摘要
The book begins with an overview of how traditional concepts of fame have transformed with the advent of social media. This chapter will mainly focus on the shift from modern celebrity archetypes, specifically those who achieved fame through traditional media and mainstream channels, to the new breed of digital celebrities who are well-connected on online platforms to develop their personas and influence. Post-postmodern celebrities were one way to describe those famous online in the 2010s as a marker for those who can engage audiences using the Internet and the rise of social media services. This chapter will provide a broad overview of how newer technological tools, fragmented media outlets, and the personal brand’s rise introduced the post-postmodern celebrity era.
