This chapter explores the role of the actors’ bodies in staging the ghost story and responds to the crisis of visibility that accompanies those performing bodies that endeavour to represent the ghost. Here I argue, in my own ghost-playing guide, that the explicitly visual dimensions offered in the theatrical ghost story through the staging of ghost authors, uncanny spectacles of the body, the character of the sceptic, and the celebrity actor not only confronts this crisis of visibility but disturbs the act of seeing itself.
