Tropical soils cultivated with pastures, for the most part, have low cation exchange capacity and, consequently, there is high potassium leaching in these soils. The objective of this chapter is to describe the availability of K in the soil, functions for plants, responses of pastures to potassium fertilization, deficiency symptoms, and fertilization recommendations.
