The paper aims at providing a glance at the complex relationship between emotions and radicalisation i.e. one of the most intriguing puzzles in the political violence realm. While “limited attention has been paid to the intersection of the social psychological research on emotions and the aetiology of terrorism” (Rice 2009, p. 48), this research favours a processual analysis of radicalisation underlining the singular nature of terrorists’ sociological profiles and biographical trajectories. Analysing both the objective and subjective components of these paths allows us to understand how the ideological corpus harness these affects to serve a terrorist purpose.

摘要

The paper aims at providing a glance at the complex relationship between emotions and radicalisation i.e. one of the most intriguing puzzles in the political violence realm. While “limited attention has been paid to the intersection of the social psychological research on emotions and the aetiology of terrorism” (Rice 2009, p. 48), this research favours a processual analysis of radicalisation underlining the singular nature of terrorists’ sociological profiles and biographical trajectories. Analysing both the objective and subjective components of these paths allows us to understand how the ideological corpus harness these affects to serve a terrorist purpose.
