Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), sometimes known as drones, have become highly influential technologies in agricultural water management. They provide innovative solutions to improve water production, precision irrigation, and resource monitoring. This research examines the various functions of UAVs in transforming water management methods, namely in the agriculture industry. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), equipped with sophisticated sensors and imaging technologies, allow for the immediate gathering and analysis of data. This enables accurate monitoring of the condition of crops, soil moisture levels, and water quality. These features enable focused interventions, efficient allocation of resources, and enhanced decision-making, effectively tackling issues pertaining to water scarcity and inefficiency in agriculture. In addition, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) offer valuable information on hydrological processes, including the analysis of river flow, forecast of floods, and management of watersheds. This contributes to the development of more efficient and sustainable strategies for water resource management. Although UAVs hold great potential, their widespread use is hindered by obstacles such as regulatory barriers, restricted flying time, and the requirement for specialized data processing skills. Furthermore, limited financial resources and logistical limitations may impede small-scale farmers from effectively harnessing UAV technology. Nevertheless, the capacity of UAVs to transform agricultural practices through precision agriculture and smart farming techniques remains substantial. This paper focusses on the present uses, difficulties, and future areas of study of UAVs in agricultural water management, emphasizing their ability to improve water productivity, support sustainable methods, and tackle the increasing needs of worldwide agriculture in light of climate change.
