Chapter 11: Ghosts and Echoes: Temporal Entanglements in Educational Practices
摘要
This chapter explores the intricate entanglements of temporalities in educational practices through the lens of hauntology and agential realism. Drawing on Karen Barad’s concept of intra-disciplinary social studies, the authors examine how ghosts and echoes disrupt linear perceptions of time and disciplinary boundaries. By incorporating the figurations of ghosts and echoes, the chapter delves into the persistent impact of past educational practices on present and future pedagogies. Through narratives from violin and science lessons, the authors illustrate how these temporal entanglements manifest in educational contexts, urging educators to recognize and respond to these spectral presences. The figuration of echo, both as a mythological and physical phenomenon, serves as a tool to trace the interplay of space, time, matter, and discourse in education. The chapter advocates for a justice-to-come in education, encouraging a deeper engagement with the temporal complexities that shape our learning environments.
