Setting the Stage
摘要
Understanding the origin of life (from now on, OoL) is one of the main scientific problems which are still unsolved (Deamer and Fleischaker 1994; Dyson 1985; Davies 2003; Pross 2012; Smith and Morowitz 2016; Deamer 2018). Science has made extraordinary progress in understanding the behavior of the natural world, and the study of living beings has witnessed huge successes in the last decades. However, we still don’t know how life originated on Earth (or perhaps elsewhere in the universe), nor have we ever been able to create new forms of life in our laboratories, using only components not produced by living beings.
