ADAPT: Guiding Digital Transformation in African Markets
摘要
This chapter presents the ADAPT (Agility, Data, Access, People, Trust) framework, a novel approach to understanding and guiding digital transformation in African markets. As highlighted in the earlier chapters, despite the rapid growth of digital technologies across Africa, existing frameworks often fail to address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the continent’s diverse digital landscapes. Through a rigorous qualitative methodology, combining a narrative literature review with in-depth expert interviews, this chapter develops a contextually grounded framework that captures the complexities of digital transformation in African settings. The ADAPT framework emphasizes the interconnected nature of agile innovation, data utilization in resource-constrained environments, multifaceted digital access, human capital development, and trust-building in digital ecosystems. The findings contribute to information systems theory by offering a socio-technical perspective on digital transformation that is sensitive to the contextual contingencies of emerging markets. The framework also provides practical implications for businesses, policymakers, and development practitioners engaged in Africa’s digital economy. By offering a holistic, context-specific approach, ADAPT advances both theoretical understanding and practical strategies for navigating the complexities of digital transformation in African markets and potentially other emerging economies.
