Academic medical centers have the tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and teaching. Faculty in these settings may experience workplace conflicts as they carry out their professional responsibilities in each of these arenas. Conflicts may be characterized as among peers, with mentees, staff, or others who report to the faculty and with leadership. In this chapter, we describe strategies to identify when there is a conflict and strategies to effectively resolve conflicts. We provide common scenarios so that faculty are well equipped for early detection and rapid resolution. Finally, we highlight the challenges specific to faculty who are women and faculty from minoritized groups.

摘要
