The family size of gifted children has been studied because the number of firstborns or single children is disproportionately large in the gifted family. Our current study challenges this assumption by giving a broader perspective. It tests well-accepted assumptions, such as “when a talented child grows up in a large family, they have lesser prospects to materialize their talents”. As giftedness research has been done mainly in countries with a much smaller birthrate than in Israel, our finding in a country with a high birthrate contributes a new perspective on the gifted large family in general.
