Indicator Visualization System for Technology Watch in Software Development

Technological surveillance and competitive intelligence are concepts that mark an organization’s experience in adapting to changes in the environment. Monitoring and its visual expression in instruments such as dashboards presuppose important processes of data retrieval and analysis for its presentation as information for decision making. The objective of the research is to develop a system that allows the monitoring of information on research topics through the use of indicators that support decision making. Business intelligence elements, such as dashboards, are used to model this system with functionalities that enable data analysis and visualization. For this purpose, an automated visualization tool is used. This paper presents the results in the indicator visualization cycle for the analysis of software development technologies such as programming languages, frameworks and databases, using indicators that expose the popularity of the technology over a period of time. In this way, a first step towards system scalability and flexibility is taken.
