The 2007/2008 financial crisis triggered a massive response of international regulatory and supervisory organisations, of the G20 global leaders and of the EU. The EU has undertaken a comprehensive reform of the financial sector. However, taking into consideration differences in the decisiveness, depth of decisions, enthusiasm and speed of the approval process for new legislative acts, two rather distinct periods can be identified.
