Effective staff training is paramount in optimizing clinical treatments for autistic individuals/individuals with autism. In this chapter, we discuss the significance of evidence-based training for service providers in augmenting their skills, confidence, engagement, and retention, ultimately leading to improved client outcomes. We outline key findings from the research in behavior skills training, computer-based instruction, and remote training modalities. We provide practical recommendations for trainers, grounded in our shared training experience and empirical evidence, to optimize staff training processes. We emphasize integrating active learning strategies, personalized feedback mechanisms, and competency-based assessments to enhance learning outcomes and promote skill generalization. Looking ahead, we explore the role of digital technology, particularly virtual reality simulation-based training, in revolutionizing staff training. Overall, we discuss how evidence-based staff training is crucial in elevating the quality of clinical treatments by empowering staff to deliver effective and compassionate interventions, thereby positively impacting clients’ lives.
