The Hidden Toll: Women and Girls in the Intersection of Climate Change and Domestic Servitude
摘要
New global times and conflicts, economic (under)development and the severe climatic consequences that some countries are currently suffering have led to the migration of millions of women, a clear effect of the global feminization of poverty. However, although it is indisputable that the phenomenon of migration affects men and women differently, especially in the context of climate migration, the debate focuses on the former, ignoring the particularities of women in the migration process. This is why these paper analyses the different consequences on women in contexts of migration for climatic reasons, studying the phenomenon of trafficking and slavery of women and girls at domestic work. “Dirty work” clearly determined by gender and vulnerability, turning migrant women into perfect silenced victims.
