This chapter examines the environmental consequences of the Russian war in Ukraine, focusing on the challenges of achieving ecological restoration and accountability. Drawing on green criminology and anti-corruption methodologies, it analyses the capacity of Ukrainian authorities and the international community to address environmental harm during conflict. The chapter highlights the role of open-source intelligence, international law, and collective action in documenting and responding to environmental crimes. It calls for stronger legal frameworks to ensure that aggressors are held responsible and that the costs of environmental restoration are fully borne by those responsible.
