The East Siberian region has traditionally been identified as an area of interest for Chinese organized crime. Criminal groups have exploited opportunities to illegally export timber, coal, gold, and jade to the East, primarily to China. The consequences of these illegal activities are severe, impacting both the local environment and, in some cases, the global ecological balance. In this chapter, I will examine the cooperation between Russian and Chinese criminal groups in the context of green crimes and environmental harms.
