The study investigates the intricate relationship between online game addiction and cybercognition among adolescents. As online gaming becomes increasingly popular, concerns about its impact on adolescents’ cognitive and social development have grown. This study explores how excessive gaming influences cognitive functions such as intention, decision-making, and social cognition, including online communication and social interactions. For the current study, 660 adolescents who play online games living in the four regions in peninsula Malaysia were researched using a quantitative approach. The equipment included a demographic data sheet, an online game addiction scale, and the cybercognition test. The collected data was evaluated using SPSS to determine the relationship between online game addiction and cybercognition using frequency distribution and correlation. The findings revealed that online gamers who remained preoccupied with online game addiction had difficulties in decision-making and exhibited withdrawal symptoms that interfered with cybercognition. Additionally, it shows that online gamers who are involved in online game addiction had a significant deficit in intention and concentration, and this contributed to a lack of security behaviour. A cybercognition enhancement solution was proposed to mitigate the problems.
