Mindfulness and the Self-Pattern
摘要
In this chapter, I summarize some recent interdisciplinary studies that explore the relationship between Buddhist psychology, mindfulness practices, and the concept of self, conceived as a self-pattern. The relevant studies focus on philosophical, psychological, and therapeutic, as well as neuroscientific issues that address the following questions. If one conceives of the self as a self-pattern, (1) how does this align with Buddhist psychology, and especially the concept of the five aggregates? (2) What light does this throw on mindfulness practices that aim to minimize self-experience? (3) How can we understand self-regulation processes in such contexts? (4) How are such processes correlated with neurological processes?
