This study examines the potential of rural tourism to diversify and strengthen local economies, particularly in areas governed by Indigenous peoples such as the Orang Asli. The study’s objective is to assess the socio-economic impact of tourist destination development on Orang Asli communities and their participation in the process. Researchers will visit and discuss on-site to determine the effects of rural tourism on Orang social and economic status in Asli. A qualitative approach involving in-depth interviews with Orang Asli professionals and community members is considered most appropriate given the emphasis on community engagement. The study seeks to create employment opportunities for local people skilled in traditional handicrafts and handicrafts by examining rural tourism development by identifying their unique cultural, historical, and ethno-geographical features and factors that can attract tourists by also exploring the feasibility, this study contributes to further the discourse on economic empowerment of Indigenous communities through sustainable tourism development.
