The present study examines the effect of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices on customer engagement with the mediating role of brand trust. A quantitative design has been used by collecting the data through a structured questionnaire gathered from 118 consumers in Malaysian higher education institutions. A partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) method was used to examine the data. The empirical findings showed that the social and governance aspects of perceived ESG have a direct positive impact on consumer engagement. Nonetheless, there was no discernible impact of the perceived environmental dimension of ESG on the brand trust. The findings also demonstrated that the relationship between social, governance, and customer engagement is mediated by brand trust. Based on the findings, future research should examine the other sample such as academic and non-academic staff due to diverse population in higher learning institutions.

摘要
