The research conducted at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) explores the feasibility of introducing student led projects for refurbishing furniture on campus to investigate the benefits and challenges of initiatives, in higher education settings. Many university furniture pieces are mistakenly deemed irreparable. Are disposed of as waste; yet upon closer examination numerous items exhibit only minor defects that can be creatively repaired or repurposed into new and innovative products. The research utilizes methods such as observing behaviors and conducting interviews and a brief survey with university faculty and students as part of its investigation efforts. Its main goal is to explore ways to utilize the creativity and innovation found in student projects. Through repurposing furniture that would otherwise be disposed of t the research aims to strengthen the university community’s dedication to sustainability and spark inspiration for a sustainable tomorrow. Moreover, the study acknowledges the business benefits, for students engaged in these repurposing initiatives. By repurposing furniture into sellable items students have the opportunity to enhance their business acumen acquire practical knowledge in creating products and discover fresh opportunities for entrepreneurship. This not fosters sustainability but also equips students with the know-how and mindset essential for success, in a competitive economy. It fosters innovation and entrepreneurial flair among the college populace.
