AI Chatbots as Companions for Trauma Survivors: Balancing Algorithmic Responses and Genuine Empathy
摘要
The paper investigates the way in which AI chatbots help trauma survivors. It reviewed recent research to find out how well these chatbots work, the ethical issues involved, and their effectiveness in showing empathy to the users. The analysis used different methods to combine findings from various studies. The results show that AI chatbots can effectively use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, help manage the symptoms, and aid in crisis interventions. They can also help users feel less lonely by providing companionship. However, it is challenging for AI chatbots to show genuine empathy, and there are ethical issues like data privacy and biases that need to be considered. In conclusion, while AI chatbots seem promising in helping trauma survivors, more research is needed to improve their empathy and ensure that they are used ethically. Besides, combining AI chatbots with other digital health technologies and creating strong ethical guidelines would help immensely in trauma care.
