Paleosols are widespread in the geological record starting from Precambrian. Pedogenesis has been a constant part of the geological cycle since the very beginning of the geological record. The soil could not form without the participation of life, and life on land could not arise and develop outside the conditions of existence, that is, soil. Paleosols record all important phenomena in the evolution of the landscape sphere across the geologic history of the Earth: oxygenation of the atmosphere in the early Precambrian, land colonization by higher plants, the spread of herbaceous vegetation in the Mesozoic, Glacial-Interglacial cycles, and mass extinctions. The coevolution of terrestrial biota and paleosols has been observed throughout geological history of the Earth, especially in the Phanerozoic. During the evolution of the biogeosphere system, the biological component of the geological cycle and the diversity of life forms increased. The variety of soil types and spatial diversification of the pedosphere also increased. Each genetic soil type is a historical category that arose at a certain stage of landscape evolution.

摘要
