This chapter challenges conventional, siloed approaches to peace and conflict studies by advocating for a trans-scalar perspective that acknowledges the interdependence of scalar dynamics. It explores how conflict recurrence is shaped by the fluid interactions between actors, institutions, and narratives across multiple scales. Moving beyond static categorizations, the analysis highlights the role of hybridity in shaping political orders, where formal and informal structures continuously reshape conflict and peace processes. By integrating insights from political geography and conflict transformation theories, the chapter provides a framework for understanding why conflicts persist and how peace can be fostered in complex, multi-layered environments.
