In the context of water resource scarcity and the worsening effects of climate change, active leak detection in water distribution networks is essential for reducing physical water losses. This study, conducted in Ain Aouda, Morocco, highlights a region severely affected by these losses. The methodology relies on acoustic detection tools to locate leaks and evaluate the physical water losses level through the minimum night flow method. The results show a reduction in water losses by around 40% over a 120-day, demonstrating the effectiveness of this approach. In conclusion, this method proves to be promising for reducing water losses in regions facing similar challenges, thereby promoting more sustainable water resource management.
