In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research has taken the decision to temporarily suspend classes in educational establishments. As a result, these establishments had to migrate their educational activities to online platforms. However, the implementation of this new teaching method did not yield the expected results. Despite efforts to improve the quality of distance learning through the promotion of new technologies, the integration of these technologies into teaching practices has been slow. In this context, the objective of this research is to explore the importance of virtual reality and 360° video in higher education and to evaluate its impact on distance learning. To address our research investigation, which examines the potential of virtual reality (VR) and 360° video on distance learning to enhance the educational experience of higher education students through the introduction for a more realistic teaching model, we used a quantitative methodology. This approach involved the distribution of questionnaires to a sample of 106 students. The results revealed that most of these students expressed that the use of virtual reality in distance learning is very beneficial, as it positively influences their learning outcomes and attitudes. Additionally, 94.3% of students recognized the value of VR in aiding their learning process, with 46.2% of respondents saying 360° video as a cheaper technology can replace virtual reality in specific situations. Therefore, the use of virtual reality and 360° video as means of entertainment can be considered as an important enabler in distance learning scenarios, allowing students to easily participate in their educational endeavors.
