This article proposes a novel way of executing moderated usability tests, which facilitates the daily work of user experience researchers and helps to socialize its results with stakeholder. For its development, a methodological approach of “Design Science Research” was followed for 18 months. During that time, three experimentation cycles were carried out, in each of them four different tests were performed with users, for a total of 12, accompanied by reflection exercises on the advantages and disadvantages of the applied methodology. This allowed to gradually refine the proposal for conducting moderated usability tests, combining the practical component approach with methodological and theoretical reflections. The main results are three artifacts with a practical and visual approach that facilitate moderate usability testing: 1) Matrix for test application and data collection; 2) User Journey; 3) Traffic light format for detailed description by screen. Finally, the benefits and limitations of the methodological proposal in the exercise of user experience researchers are analyzed in detail.
